Press Release
Mrs. is pleased to announce our return to the Dallas Art Fair 2024, with works by Los Angeles-based artists Nevena Prijic and Lily Ramírez; on view at the Fashion Industry Gallery in Dallas, Texas, April 10 - 13, 2025.
Nevena Prijic's work explores the intersection of the human body, nature, and technology. Her approach is deeply informed by her experiences growing up with a father in science, sparking her interest in the interconnectedness of neural networks and organic systems. Drawing inspiration from the Vinča culture and its figurines, Prijic blends abstraction with references to ancient forms, creating layered, organic compositions that evoke cellular structures. Using fluid acrylics, Prijic’s process produces translucent, textured effects that suggest biological growth and technological innovation. Each work invites the viewer to consider how the body evolves in response to these interconnected forces.
Prijic’s compositions are reflections on the layered nature of time, drawing attention to the complex relationships between nature, technology, and the human body. Her use of transparent layers suggests depth and history, offering a visual meditation on how these systems evolve and interact. By blending these different realms, Prijic creates a space for reflection on the continuous cycles of life, encouraging the viewer to explore how past and future shape the present. Her work reveals how technology and biology are deeply intertwined, creating an ever-evolving narrative.
Lily Ramírez’s works on paper offer a striking interplay of texture and abstraction, where thick layers of paint form dynamic, landscape-like compositions. Her intricate marks evoke the energy and movement of natural environments. These compositions often resemble aerial views of interconnected landscapes, with gestural strokes and dense layers of color creating a sense of flowing, organic movement. Ramírez’s works on paper allow the viewer to navigate through these abstract terrains, where the lines and shapes mimic topographical forms.
Family and personal experience play a pivotal role in Ramírez’s artistic process. Her landscapes become meditations on memory, connection, and the ways in which different aspects of one's life intertwine. Just as the layers of paint build up on the paper, Ramírez’s work reflects how her emotional and physical landscapes are shaped by familial bonds and personal history. Each piece serves as a reflection of both geographical and internal landscapes, inviting viewers into a deeply personal and emotionally resonant space.
Both Prijic and Ramírez create works that blend abstraction with deeply personal narratives, drawing connections between the natural world, technology, and emotional experience. Prijic’s layered compositions explore the evolving relationship between biology and technology, while Ramírez’s landscapes serve as reflections on memory and family. Though their processes and subjects differ, both artists create works that engage the viewer in a dialogue between the abstract and the personal, offering a unified vision of interconnectedness and growth.
